The Burlington FFA Chapter kicked off the 2025 National FFA Week on a high note by providing breakfast for BHS Staff. On Monday, February 17th, all FFA officers arrived at school earlier than usual to distribute breakfast burritos to BHS teachers and staff, demonstrating the FFA's appreciation for their hard work and dedication.

It was a fantastic opportunity for a few FFA officers and freshmen reps to provide insight into what FFA is to the 8th graders. We talked about the activities and results you can get from taking an Ag class, as well as how you might use them later on. The important takeaway from our speech is that there are numerous roads you may pursue in agriculture, but discovering your actual love for what you are interested in is the primary goal when you first enroll in an agricultural class.

Throughout FFA week, the Burlington Chapter made sure to involve all members through competitions. These consisted of a sunflower seed-spitting competition, a marshmallow-eating competition, an egg toss competition, a jalapeno competition, a milk-chugging competition, a saltine cracker competition, and a doughnut on a string competition. They also had a scavenger hunt for small silicon pigs, which were hidden throughout the school. At the end of the week, members who had found pigs would turn them in, and for each pig they found, their name was entered once into a drawing.

These competitions were fun and competitive for everyone in the chapter to enjoy. Winners of these contests include Tynlee Hubbard and Truit Homm for the sunflower seed-spitting contest, Aaron Knight and Jeremy Tomes for the egg toss contest, Peyton Stults and Scout Humrich for the Saltine cracker contest, Peyton Stults and Michael Cadina for the marshmallow contest, Bethany Cure for the jalapeno contest, and Efren Ornelas and Marisol Licano for the milk-chugging contest.
