COVID-19 INFO
Burlington Cohort Definitions by Building

Elementary

BES cohorts are defined as a grade level. Grade levels have minimum mixing while indoors in the elementary school. Grade levels are allowed to mix outdoors for recess. Grade levels are allowed to mix for after-school tutoring and enrichment activities. Staff will keep rosters to determine exposure during these activities.

Middle School

BMS cohorts are defined as a grade level. Grade levels are kept apart during class, lunch/recess and during passing periods. Grade levels are allowed to combine for extra curricular activities. Extra curricular activities create additional cohorts and a student would belong to more than one cohort should they participate. Seating charts are kept for contact tracing and parents are informed if their student was potentially exposed to close contact.

High School

Due to the nature of student schedules, the high school practices social distancing as much as possible. Seating charts are kept for contact tracing and parents are informed if their student was potentially exposed to close contact. Extra curricular activities create cohorts for those participating in them.

Good Afternoon Parents, Staff and Students,

Due to a large number of illnesses, the district is experiencing a high number of student and staff absences The district will be closing all three schools this Wednesday and Thursday, January 19th & 20th, to hopefully allow the illness to run its course and prevent the district from experiencing another shutdown. There will not be online schooling or homework packets during these days.

All extracurricular activities will continue as planned, including athletic practices and competitions, the Stock Show trip, etc. If they are not feeling well, I ask that you keep your students home from activities over the next five days to help us resume school next Monday at 100%. I understand that this is not convenient for many if not most parents and I appreciate your understanding as we work to minimize disruptions to the school year.

Sincerely,

S. Shane Walkinshaw

Superintendent

Burlington School District

Buenas tardes padres, personal y estudiantes,

Sinceramente

S. Shane Walkinshaw

Superintendente

Distrito Escolar de Burlington
